The Port of Baja is to be found on the left bank of the Danube between 1479+140 and 1480+900 km-posts.
Extent of tariff
This tariff is valid for companies who use the services of Baja Public Port Ltd. (such as tie up a ship, barge, boat, vessel or other shipping equipments, load and/or unload goods, area retail fee, etc.) The following rates are to be used if an other special agreement doesn’t exists with the company. After shipping into our port a contract comes into existence - without any added written contract –, and about using our territories, an added written contract is necessary.
Person to be bound to pay the fees
The port utilization charge and the quay utilization charge is have to be paid by the owner of the ship, and the area retail fee is has to be paid by the owners of the buildings. The owner of the ship can name other person or company who is bound to pay the charges but he is responsible for the discharge.
Due date, interest charges
The following charges are to be paid before ship out the port, and the area retail fee has to be paid after the singed contract. The interest charge if it is paid in Ft, after the measure in convertible money is 15%.
Currency of payment
The charges has to be paid in convertible money or if the measure allows, specify – in Ft. In case of conversion, the due date middle exchange rate of MNB have to be used.
Conditions of billing
Port utilization charge have to be paid from arriving of the vessel or water vehicle, and for every started day for time spent in the port.
Quay utilization charge has to be paid after the loaded/unloaded goods for each ton and type of goods using the quay utilized by Baja Public Port Ltd. Loading from one vessel to the other one the charge has to be paid by the unloading ship. For to use the area of the port, every company has to pay, which operates on our territory. The prices don’t include VAT, it has to be after the existing measure.
Operators of the port sections and loading sections must cooperate with Baja Public Port Ltd. in collection of fees from the vessels and water vehicles who use the port services. It concerns to port and quay utilization charges and also to other port service fees – in that case if the owner of the vessel or water vehicle must pay the fees.
Port utilization charge
It has to be paid by the owner of the water and floating vehicle after their vehicle. It has to be paid – if there is no other agreement – after each vehicle, after every started day.
The port utilization charhe has to be paid if:
- By the loading vessels and other water vehicles or floating vehicles from the ship in day.
The port utilization charge has to be counted after the tonnage and ground-space (m2) of the vehicle and after the duration of being in our port. The bearing capacity and the ground-space have to be converting up to whole tonnage and m2. The base of the bearing capacity is the certified document. The base of the ground-space is the longest length and width.

After the bearing capacity, after each ton and m2 of other water vehicles:
- on the first day 1,30 HUF/to
- on the additional days till the tenth day with 1,30 HUF/to raised charge, for the tenth and the every additional days 13,00 HUF/to (but not less than 7.800 HUF).
- on the first day 2,60 HUF/m2
- on the second day 3,90 HUF/m2 - after every additional day: 13,00 HUF/m2
(but not less than 3.900 HUF).
Quay Utilization Charge
It has to be paid after the loaded goods for each ton and type of goods by the person who loads in our port.
It has to be paid after each goods, which are loaded - using the quay – from vessel to vessel or loaded in with port equipment.
It has to be paid after the type and quantity (gross) of goods. Authentic are the shipping documents, (such as freight-bill, shipping acknowledgement, etc.). The weight always has to convert up to full ton.
The utilization charge after the types of the goods:
- metal, coal, chark, stone, sand
- cereal (wheat, barley, rye, corn)
- every other goods
(but minimum 10.000 HUF)
On every meter of the rented quay a fixed volume of traffic should be accomplished (500 to/m/year). If the operator doesn’t achieve this volume, the guarantee charge shall be paid after the not performed traffic. 45 HUF / to
It has to be paid after the area depending on its utilities.
It has to be paid after the Ro-Ro ramp using and the parking place/ship: 780.000 - 936.000 HUF
The port authority can give allowances from the above-mentioned charges in special cases.
Current legislation Value Added Tax is have to be paid after the above mentioned fees and charges.
In the near future Baja will be the most developed and most important river port of the Southern border region of the EU, its border entry point on water, service and warehousing centre of the international waterway traffic. We would like to make it attractive to international trade and transport branch by offering a unique range of services of the highest international standards.
In line with the Hungarian transport and environment protection policies, Baja Public Port is envisaged as the Southern Hungarian centre for combined transport. As a first step, a Ro-Ro terminal has already been established and further developments are planned. Strengthening communication channels and a more effective utilisation of economic means will enhance the importance of the role Baja Public Port plays in the region.
